It’s the 24th day of GloPoWriMo and today’s prompt was to write an elegy – a poem typically written in honour or memory of someone or something dead. But the challenge was to write an elegy that has a hopefulness to it.
This is my effort. I hope you enjoy it.
Risks in Punctuation
Relegated to being the first half of wink
No-one really knows what it was for anymore
Did they ever?
English is full of complex rules
And the tiny dots and squiggles sneaking between letters and spaces
Only add to the confusion
But their omission can cause chaos
I have hope that its use will be restored; it is after all a useful little dot and squiggle
So let us resurrect it; it’s quite useful for making a link
