GloPoWriMo: Day 26

It’s the 26th day of GloPoWriMo and today’s prompt was to write a poem that includes images that engage all five senses. Try to be as concrete and exact as possible with the “feel” of what the poem invites the reader to see, smell, touch, taste and hear.

This is another one inspired by Julius Caesar rehearsals.  Never underestimate the value of character development!  I hope you enjoy it.

Do you like peaches?

Red and yellow sunset skin
Soft with velvety fur
The aroma of summer in Italy
Hinting at what is within
Cracking as it breaks against your teeth

Golden glistening fruit
Dripping with sweet nectar
Sharp scent of sunshine
Tangy like air in July rain
Falling heavily on the piazza

Darkest stone within the a red heart
Nestled firmly in its place
Inhaling the sweetness
The gentle flavour of hot days
Carefully scraping the fruit away

They’re quite nice in wine
Aren’t they?
