GloPoWriMo 2021: Day 1

April 1, 2021 Donna M Day 2 comments

Happy April everyone. Today is the first day of GloPoWriMo. I didn’t finish last year after becoming ill, so am hoping that this year’s will go much better.

Today’s prompt was to write a poem inspired by this animation, as a means of getting outside of your own head, and learning to see the world in a new way.

This is my poem, inspired by the bright colours and unique music in the video. I hope you enjoy it.

If sounds shone with colour

If sounds shone with colour
would a rainbow scream a crescendo
or fade into a gentle cadence?

Would indigo and violet
be to the ear
as to the eye
just slightly brighter, duller,

or would violet’s violent love
be bloody red,
blending as Ti and Do at the verse’s end?

Opposite ends of the scale
are the same note, after all.

Would the rainbow’s end hum the sweetest note
or would nature see valuelessness
in shining yellow metal
and clang,

off key.
