GloPoWriMo 2021: Day 12

April 12, 2021 Donna M Day 1 comment

Today is the twelfth day of GloPoWriMo and today’s poetry prompt was to write a poem using at least one word/concept/idea from one of two specialty dictionaries: Lempriere’s Classical Dictionary or the Historical Dictionary of Science Fiction.

I have written my poem inspired by the word “braintape” from the latter dictionary. I hope you enjoy it.

For years
I searched for a cure, but
I’m a engineer, not a doctor.

I couldn’t save your memory,
hold it in place with tape.

I couldn’t keep you as you were,
retain everything you ever thought,
everything you ever felt,
where it was.

I’m sorry if this is not what you wanted
but we’re together again
and thanks to this
we always will be.
