GloPoWriMo 2021: Day 16

April 16, 2021 Donna M Day No comments exist

Today is the sixteenth day of GloPoWriMo. I have just been to the Flow Chart Foundation’s close reading of Barbara Guest’s Dissonance Royal Traveller which was very interesting. I’m not familiar with the poem, but the use of white space is something I love as you know, and the Gothic undertones really resonated with me. The event was part of a series, and if you’re interested in attending future sessions, you can find details on Eventbrite.

For my own poem, today’s prompt was to write a Skeltonic which was a nice chance to write something silly and nonsensical. I hope you enjoy it.

candle

what if a candle
came with a handle
would it get hot
if you held it a lot
or would it not
like a cooking pot
you use for a spot
of making vegetable stew
with stuff that you grew
in a window box
in view of a fox
chewing a sandal
the little red vandal
sure to cause scandal
that no one can handle
like a hot melting candle
