Today is the seventeenth day of GloPoWriMo and today’s prompt was to write a poem that is about, or that involves, the moon.
This one is based on a true story. I hope you enjoy it.
I remember once
everyone being so excited
over that night’s super moon.
People planning their sleep around it,
keeping their kids up late,
driving out to the country.
But the first to see it was my friend.
In the first shades of twilight,
barely even dark,
she stared dreamily out of our office window
saying how beautiful
and yellow it was,
but that it was much smaller
than she thought it would be.
I looked out of the window
where she was gazing lovingly
at the Liver Building clock.
