GloPoWriMo 2021: Day 18

April 18, 2021 Donna M Day 4 comments

Today is the eighteenth day of GloPoWriMo and today’s prompt was to write a poem based on the title of one of the chapters from Susan G. Wooldridge’s Poemcrazy: Freeing Your Life with Words.

I have based mine on Snowflakes and Secrets. I hope you enjoy it.

Snow in love

Movie love
is kissing in the frozen winter
with snowflakes in your hair
and tears in your eyes.

Literary love
is throwing snowballs at each other
with numb, purple fingers
and discarded red gloves giving life to the snowman.

True love
is being rescued on the steepest hill
with a strong arm around your shivering shoulders
and hot tea thawing frozen lips.

Real love
is a text message saying the trains are cancelled
with an obligatory x on the end
and an exasperated “as if they even call this snow”.

  1. Love the different aspects of what love is. So true, too, that “real” love is in the mundane, such as the text … great philosophy here.
