GloPoWriMo 2021: Day 21

April 21, 2021 Donna M Day No comments exist

Today is the twenty-first day of GloPoWriMo and today’s prompt was to write a poem with lines that have a repetitive set-up.

I’ve been working from home for over a year now, but have delved into my commuting memories for this one. I hope you enjoy it.

Meditation

Breathe in, breathe out,
feel the weight of the floor.
Breathe in, breathe out,
feel the air filling your lungs.
Breathe in, breathe out,
feel the morning light open your eyes.
Breathe in, breathe out,
feel the air on your face through the open door.
Breathe in, breathe out,
feel the pavement under your feet.
Breathe in, breathe out,
feel the atmosphere of a rush hour crowd.
Breathe in, out,
feel the frustration of a late train.
In, out,
feel the heat of bodies packed in like sardines.
In, out,
feel the elbow in your ribs,
feel the book on your head,
feel the boot crushing your toes.
In, out, in, out, in, out, in, out.
Feel the crowd disperse,
in the station,
out, everyone.
Feel the overground air.
Breathe in, breathe out.
