GloPoWriMo 2021: Day 25

April 25, 2021 Donna M Day No comments exist

Today is the twenty-fifth day of GloPoWriMo and the last Sunday of the challenge which will soon be coming to an end. I can’t believe it will be May this time next week.

Today’s prompt was to write an “occasional” poem. It’s been a difficult year for a lot of people and this one sums that up.

My birthday, 2020

I am a summer baby
born in wedding season
on their anniversary.

2020 was their Diamond wedding.
Sixty years married,
thirty-six with a grandchild.

It was between lockdowns
so we drove over
with a card and chocolate
and sat in the garden
where they fed the stray cat.

I cried when we left,
hysterically;
I had a bad feeling.

This year
will be the first anniversary
of the last day I saw her.

Never 61.

Never 37.
